A fixed dental bridge is a non-removable appliance and is a great way to replace missing teeth.
There are different types of bridges. You and Dr. Florin Arhiri will establish the best options for your case. The “traditional bridge” is the most common type. This type of bridge is made of two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth (abutment teeth) and are attached to pontics (artificial teeth), filling the gap created by one or more missing teeth. Generally, traditional bridge is made of porcelain fused to metal, or ceramic.
For getting a dental bridge, you will need to visit the dental office two or more times. Firstly, the two anchoring teeth are prepared by removing a portion of enamel to allow for a crown. Next, Dr. Florin Arhiri will made a mold, which will be sent to a dental laboratory where the bridge will be fabricated. Additionally, a temporary bridge will be made, in order to wear it until your next appointment.
At the second visit, the permanent bridge will be checked, adjusted, and cemented to obtain a perfect fit. Often, your dentist may only temporarily cement the bridge, allowing your teeth and tissue time to get used to the new bridge. The new bridge will be permanently cemented later.
When the procedure is finished, you will receive care instructions such as proper brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits.
